NSW floods – stay safe and access disaster assistance

Members are advised that the Government has announced further disaster relief for businesses in highly impacted Local Government Areas of Lismore, Ballina, Byron, Kyogle, Richmond Valley, Clarence Valley and Tweed including:
- grants of up to $10,000 for eligible small businesses and not-for-profit organisations that have experienced a minimum 40 per cent decline in turnover in March 2022 due to the impacts of flooding. Please note that this is only available for businesses that did not receive the $50,000 Disaster Recovery Grant; and
- financial assistance grants of up to $200,000 for medium-sized businesses, employing more than 20 and up to 200 employees that have been impacted by floods, to assist with clean-up, essential repairs and replacement not covered by insurance; and
- up to $50 million for large businesses and major employers in key industries to provide immediate financial assistance in the Northern Rivers.

The New South Wales Government has announced assistance for 45 local government areas in NSW through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

We are all aware of the extraordinary rain bomb and flooding events taking place in the south of QLD, northern NSW and in Sydney, and the enormous hardship this has caused many of our members, their customers and the communities in which they trade.
