Recent changes to the national Food Standards Code now exist for food businesses across all Australian states & territories.
- New food safety laws being enforced from December 8, 2023
- Food Standards Code now includes Standard 3.2.2A
Who does this change impact?
If your business prepares and serves food then these changes affect you.
In Australia, food safety laws are enforced at a state and territory level. Prior to recent changes, many states and territories had their own special requirements for food handling and record keeping, these included New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory.
However, from December 8, 2023, all Australian states and territories must now comply with the requirements outlined in Standard 3.2.2A.
This includes Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory, which require the implementation of Food safety supervisors.
