SA Single Use Plastics Ban – Effective 1 September 2023
The South Australian Parliament passed the Single-use and Other Plastic Products (Waste Avoidance) Act 2020 on September 9 2020.
The following items were added to the SA single use plastic ban effective 1 September:
- Single use plastic bowls (designed not to have a lid) and single-use plastic plates (exemptions apply where single-use plastic bowls are required for medical, scientific, forensic or law enforcement purposes only and are not used for serving food to humans)
- Plastic-stemmed cotton buds (exemptions apply where plastic-stemmed cotton buds are required for medical, scientific, forensic or law enforcement purposes only. This includes the retail sale of first aid kits and testing kits (such as COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits))
- Plastic pizza savers
