Important Update: WA State minimum award wage increase by 4.65%

The Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission (WAIRC) has announced its decision that there will be a state award minimum wage increase of 4.65%, subject to a minimum $40.90 per week increase to adult award classifications, which will commence from members’ first full period commencing on or after 1 July 2022. This increase applies to the Licensed Establishments (Retail and Wholesale) Award and Shop and Warehouse (Wholesale and Retail Establishments) Award (the Awards).
This means that:
- employees receiving less than $887.40 per week, based on the applicable pay they would have received if they were a full-time adult employee, will receive a pro-rated $40.90 weekly increase; and
- employees receiving at least $887.40 per week, based on the applicable pay they would have received if they were a full-time adult employee, will receive a 4.65% wage increase.
- The WAIRC also announced a $40.90 weekly increase to the national weekly minimum wage.
